SAN FRANCISCO—BART riders traveling into San Francisco experienced delays during the morning commute on Tuesday, September 24.

At approximately 8 a.m., an unidentified adult male made his way onto the trackway at the Civic Center Station, impacting services throughout San Francisco and into the East Bay.

Commuters experienced 20 minute delays until authorities arrived on the scene to apprehend the individual.

“It took time to safely remove the person from the trackway.  That created a cascading effect that delayed trains behind where the incident occurred,” said Chris Filippi, Spokesperson of Bay Area Rapid Transit District to the San Francisco News.

The man was not injured and the incident is still under investigation.

In addition, Filippi told San Francisco News that the individual will undergo a psychiatric investigation.
