SAN FRANCISCO—On November 9,  Michael Goggins, 34, of Millbrae was accused of physically and verbally attacking a Latino man in Redwood City. Goggins was reported to have punched the Redwood City resident who was walking down the street, in the chest while making racist remarks. He reportedly asked the victim, why he was in “his” country, referring to Latinos as “aliens” who were “invading the United States.”

According to reports, Goggins verbally attacked a Latino gas station employee nearby, who proceeded to call the police at approximately 10:40 p.m.

Following the incident, the suspect took off on Laurel Street before coming into contact with a police officer. Goggins attempted to resist arrest, failing to adhere to the officer’s orders.

The SFGate.com reported that Goggins, who apparently attempted to bite the officer who arrested him, was charged with two felonies to which he pleaded not guilty. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bail.

San Francisco News reached out to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office on the incident. A representative shared that Goggins was arrested by the Redwood City Police Department. San Francisco News did proceed to contact the RCPD Media Relations department, but did not hear back before print.
