SAN FRANCISCO—Beginning in the fall, Uber will begin the construction of a new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Mission Bay, a facility that will be able to accommodate 3,000 workers.

On May 27, Uber released the renderings for the 423,000 square-foot, two-building complex that will reside at 1455 Third Street.

The ride-sharing transportation company, which operates in 55 different countries, is currently in the process of recruiting minority-owned businesses to fill-out the development team.

Uber’s Head of Workplace Operations Adony Benaires stated that the corporation wants the new headquarters to reflect the company’s open culture, one in which “There is a transparency we have internally where anybody can talk to anybody about what is going on” regardless of title or level of responsibility.”

Per Benaires, the waterfront Mission Bay location, which owns a close proximity to public transit facilities, parks, walking trails, and new housing, was an ideal fit for the company’s new home.

“It’s a great neighborhood now; it’s going to be a super-great neighborhood,” Benaires said.

The complex, purchased from Salesforce, will officially open for business by the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018.
