SAN FRANCISCO—In August 2016, Morgan Hill resident Damou Joseph Evans, 46, was arrested in San Jose after being accused of sexually assaulting a 33 year-old woman multiple times in July. The victim reported the assault to the San Jose Police Department (SJPD).
The SF Gate reported that since Evans’ arrest in August, six other women have reported being sexually assaulted by Evans, and it is believed that there are additional victims who have not yet come forward to authorities.
On November 9, SF Gate reported that the San Jose Police Department updated Evans’ case based on new evidence from victims. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office charged Evans with 19 felonies and he will now have to register as a sex offender. He is currently being held at the Santa Clara County jail.
