SAN FRANCISCO—In recent years the San Francisco Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit has seen an increase in the amount of Online Sexual Exploitation cases transpiring during the summer and back to school months.

As a result to the new data, the ICAC Unit began monitoring social media sites and mobile applications that children use frequently during the specified time frames. According to a press release from the SFPD, the ICAC Unit was made aware of several people who were attempting to have sexual contact in SF with underage minors via social media. Several of the individuals attempted to send sexually explicit material to children.

On August 2, 2017 the SFPD ICAC Unit arrested Randall Cady, a 40, of Santa Cruz resident. Cady was also arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Tracy, CA. He was charged with misdemeanor arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact and felony going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact.

On August 10, SFPD ICAC Unit arrested Michael Renteria, 50, of Milpitas. He was charged with felony sending harmful material to a minor, misdemeanor arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact and felony going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact. Renteria was employed as maintenance worker.

On August 21, the SFPD ICAC Unit, with assistance from San Jose PD ICAC Unit and agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI, arrested Jose Olivares-Parada, 38, of San Francisco. Olivares-Parada was charged with felony sending harmful material to a minor, misdemeanor arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact, and felony going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact. The suspect was employed as a maintenance worker.

Also on August 21, the SFPD ICAC Unit, with assistance from San Jose PD ICAC Unit and the agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI, arrested Ahmad Naimi, 32, of Newark. He was charged with misdemeanor arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact and felony going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact. Naimi was employed as a security guard.

On August 31, the SFPD ICAC Unit arrested Charles Johnson, 44, of Oakland. He was charged with a misdemeanor for arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact and a felony for going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact. Johnson was employed as a ride share driver.
