GLENDALE—KTLA, Channel 5 news anchor Chris Burrous’ autopsy revealed that his cause of death was accidental methamphetamine overdose, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroners Office disclosed.
Burrous body was reported unresponsive on December 27, 2018, at the Days Inn Motel in Glendale, when a companion called 9-1-1 at 1:15 p.m.
Dispatchers instructed the individual to perform CPR until paramedics arrived. Burrous’ body was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 2:06 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Coroners office, Sarah Ardalani from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office indicated during a press conference that Burrous’s inserted meth through his anus, during sexual activities with a male partner. A bondage mask was also discovered saturated with amyl nitrate “poppers.”
Burrous met his partner four times on Grindr, a dating app for gay men. It was later determined Burrous died from methamphetamine toxicity. Other contributing factors include hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The manner of death was certified as an accident.
The 43-year-old latest creative news segment was known as “Burrous Bites,” where local viewers and fans invited him to join and critique their favorite foods at restaurants.
Burrous is survived by his wife Mai and 9-year-old daughter Isabella.
