According to a press release from the SFPD website, Johnson is a six year veteran at the department who works at the Bayview Station and works with the youth in the community.

His program, Operation Genesis connects African-American youth with their ancestors. The goal of the program is to help inner city youth better understand the sacrifices made for them by their ancestors. Operation Genesis is aiming to make education a vital point in the lives of these teens.

Seven youths between the ages of 14-18, will journey with Officer Johnson to Accra, Ghana in Africa. During the nine day trip, they will learn about self-discovery from the struggles of their African ancestors, and they will also meet with local youth to exchange cultural differences between America and Africa.
