UNITED STATES—I will admit I’m not thrilled about the match-up for Super Bowl LII. I was really hoping we’d see a battle between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings. However, after the Jaguars failed to halt Tom Brady and the Patriots during the fourth quarter where they were in the lead, one has to give credit to Brady who is a force to be reckoned with in the NFL. The guy is not good, he’s not great: he is stellar.
How great would it have been to see the Vikings actually play in the Super Bowl on their home turf? It would have been a first ever in the league, but perhaps in the near future we will see such a feat accomplished. After the dominating and I mean dominating performance by the Philadelphia Eagles against the Minnesota Vikings, it is indeed clear: the Eagles will be a formidable opponent for the Patriots.
The Patriots were victorious during Super Bowl LI which was an epic ending to say the least with Brady and crew coming back from a deficit that seemed nearly improbable for a Super Bowl game. However, I would like to see a football game that is not lopsided, where the battle is back and forth between both teams until the final moments. Not what we see time and time again, where you run into situations where one team dominates the entire time and you know the winner as soon as the game kicks off.
Brady, who played against the Jaguars with an injured finger, proved nothing can stop him from leading his team to victory. On top of that, Rob Gronkowski who was injured during the game and questionable rather he’s play in the biggest sporting event during the year on February 4, looks to be back in prime shape and ready for battle this week. Both teams have descended on Minneapolis and while the Patriots are already seen as odds on favorites, people should not count out the Eagles. I mean these are two teams who are ranked #1 in both of their divisions, so with that alone they have proven they are the best of the best for the current NFL season.
On top of that, the Eagles have a titan in Carson Wentz, who unfortunately for the team had an injury to his ACL that took him out for the rest of season. While many thought Wentz’s injury would derail the team, but backup quarterback Nick Foles stepped up to the plate and has delivered. So it will be interesting to see if Foles can keep his momentum going and help the team to a victory against the dominating New England Patriots.
Super Bowl LII will take place at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, February 4. The event will be televised on NBC starting at 6:30 p.m. Singer Justin Timberlake will take the stage during the half-time show. This should be a good one people.
