SAN FRANCISCO—The 40-year-old owner of a pitbull was seriously injured after her dog mauled her in the family’s home.
Emergency crews discovered the woman with critical wounds to her arms, face, and legs. She was airlifted to the hospital.
Her injuries were so critical that paramedics were forced to perform advanced life support treatment en route to the Walnut Creek Hospital.
During the attack, the pit bull was struck with a baseball bat and stabbed. It is believed the wounds to the dog were inflicted in an attempt to stop the animal from killing its owner.
The pit bull was subsequently euthanized by Contra Costa Animal Services. No information about the owner’s condition or name has been released to the public.
