HOLLYWOOD—Well the walls are definitely crumbling around Ezra (Ian Harding), as experienced in episode 20 “Free Fall.”  After what appears to be eons of speculation Spencer (Troian Bellisario) shouted what the audience has been screaming since the season four summer finale: Ezra is freakin’ “A!”

Spencer’s dark path continued to haunt her with sleep becoming her worse enemy as Ezra was aware of his student’s latest shenanigans.  Once again he made threats that could only rattle the best of us.  She called an emergency meeting with Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) to discuss the latest plan to unleash the news about Mr. Fitz to Aria (Lucy Hale).  The other ladies were adamant against it, while Spence was very much convinced of what needed to be done. Ezra decided to take action against a loose canon by telling Aria that her BFF has an issue with pills.

The relationship between Toby (Keegan Allen) and Spence, looks to be souring a bit, thanks to the continued secrets that our favorite liar continues to keep from her boyfriend. Emily and Hanna did their best to avoid Aria, but she crashed the ladies lunch outing and thought of confronting the top liar about her pill addiction. Spencer was not pleased to be the subject of an intervention about her pill popping, and the defensive guard rose to the top of the list. Finally!  Spencer blurted out the truth to Aria about who Ezra is.  It was a conflicting moment, as she broke down about the latest melee. “A’s” latest plan was brilliant to say the least, just as a prescription pad from Dr. Wren was found in Spencer’s purse.  Hmm, I have a feeling that Spence may have been telling the truth, but at the same time I suspect she may have been lying.  Who can I trust?

What is Mona (Janel Parrish) up to now? It appears her relationship with Mike (Cody Christian) is heating up, but it appears her boss, Mr. Fitz is pulling all the strings.  She was not too pleased to receive a threat from the puppet master who is manipulative to the core.  It appears the only sane ladies are Emily and Hanna who continued to speculate who they could and could not trust, just as Spence gave her pills to the ladies to prove her point.  Spence devised a clever plan letting the girls know that “A” has been secretly changing the diary to keep his meeting place a secret from the liars.

Well, well, Mrs. Hastings (Lesley Fera) returned to Rosewood after being MIA for what appears more than a half a season. How in the world could mom and dad not realize that their daughter is crying out for help? Aria wanted to alert Ezra to Spencer’s latest admission, but she was unable to speak the truth. Hmm, Mr. Fitz indeed slipped up, when she questioned her lover about the tattoo and dead body of Toby in the woods. Uh-oh, it looks like Aria has discovered a truth about her lover that she doesn’t want to admit to.

Emily created the perfect diversion to get the goods on Ezra who was spying on our naïve little liar.  It was the perfect set-up, as Hanna and Spencer watched from a distance. Is it me or is Ezra a creepy character when he feels threatened. It was quite obvious that Spencer was on the verge of a nervous breakdown thanks to her withdrawal from taking pills. Aria decided to play detective to get the goods on Ezra by visiting the cabin to see what truths she could uncover.

Hanna and Emily showed up at the secret place where Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and Ezra secretly met, and guess what of all places it turned out to be a zoo. The girl’s latest plan had a snag, as Spencer was a no-show.   Aria discovered Ezra’s secret lair, but surprise, not a single piece of evidence was found in the lair. It was obvious he was aware of Aria’s latest suspicion of him and moved his evidence before it was too late, but Aria found the evidence she needed. The ladies thought “Spence” showed up to the secret meeting, but little did they know that mystery guest was Alison herself.

When Aria attempted to escape she discovered that she left her keys, just as Ezra pursued her.  She was quite frightened to say the least. It was indeed a tense moment, as our little liar did everything in her power to keep Ezra off her trail. She freaked when she found herself trapped on a ski-lift with Ezra. He did his best to convince her of his innocence. He acknowledged that he was writing a true crime book about Alison’s death.  Wow, he almost seemed sincere.

Darn, it was Mona dressed in the blond wig who attempted to throw off the liars at the zoo.  Aria was none too pleased to see Mona at her abode, just as Spencer found herself being confronted by Toby and her mother about her pill addiction.  Mama Hastings confronted her daughter about the pills and was emotionally drained.  Could Spencer be taking another trip to Radley?  It appeared that “A” secretly scooped up all the pages to Ezra’s manuscript, which has me thinking that perhaps, he’s not as bad as we think he is. There’s so much to this story that just isn’t making sense.  With only four episodes left, audiences should expect plenty of secrets to come to light. Until next Tuesday “PLL” fanatics!
