SAN FRANCISCO—Last Thursday, February 7, around 150 protestors rallied at the Mission District in response to the alleged police brutality against 18-year-old Kevin Clark.

After a video circulated on YouTube and other social network sites showing the arrest of Clark, an African-American CCSF student, much anger has spurred on behalf of the community due to the questionably excessive officer force used during his arrest. The arrest took place on January 24 on 24th and Mission Streets when Clark, according to police, was in the process of assaulting someone on the sidewalk.

The video shows two police officers cornering Clark on their motorcycles, and soon after holding him on the ground with his face against a sewer grill.

The march took place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday night, and started to clear out at around 7:00 p.m. when it started to rain.

The Facebook and website for this planned event stated, “The gentrification of the Mission District is pushing out the working-class communities of color, and the police are increasing their harassment and brutality against the people.”
