LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back from Sunday’s blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, defeating the Brooklyn Nets 125-118 on Tuesday, November 15.
D’Angelo Russell led the Lakers offensively, scoring a season high 32 points while grabbing eight rebounds and four assists. Julius Randle notched the second triple double of his career with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Lakers’ bench has continued to lead the league in scoring, averaging over 50 points per game. Tarik Black accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Los Angeles reserves, and cited his team’s togetherness as an aspect of strength moving forward.
“We all love to play this game together, even on nights when it isn’t all clicking,” Black said after the game. “We didn’t care what people were saying about this team before the season started. It’s about this locker room. We knew what we had.”
Summer acquisition Timofey Mozgov had his most productive game as a member of the Lakers, scoring 20 points and adding six rebounds while making seven of 11 shot attempts.
Brooklyn was led by center Brook Lopez, who scored a team-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while making four 3-pointers. Bosnian native Bojan Bogdanovic added 29 points for the Nets, who fall to 4-7 in the season, tying the Orlando Magic for the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Lakers are now 7-5 overall and tied with the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers for the fifth seed in the Western Conference. Los Angeles will prepare for their next game at Staples Center against the Spurs on Friday, November 18.
