CHICAGO—Rapper Juice WRLD suffered a seizure at Chicago’s Midway airport on Sunday, December 8, that led to the musician’s death.

Juice WRLD, born Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport after traveling from Los Angeles. Higgins is said to have been conscious when he was transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the Oak Lawn hospital at approximately 3:14 a.m. The cause of death is unclear at this time and an autopsy is scheduled to take place Monday.

Juice WRLD’s first big single, “Lucid Dreams” was released in the summer of 2018 and made it to #2 on the Billboard Charts. Other songs included “All Girls Are the Same” and “Legends,” which he released in 2018 after the deaths of rappers, Lil Peep and XXXTentacion. In “Legends,” the rapper sings the following lyrics: “What’s the 27 club? We ain’t making it past 21.”

Higgins’ stage name was reportedly inspired by Tupac Shakur’s performance in the 1992 film, “Juice.” Juice WRLD recently turned 21 on Monday, December 2.
