SAN FRANCISCO—A video shot outside Lucky River, a Chinese Restaurant in the Sunnyside Neighborhood, has gone viral.

The video reveals a restaurant employee aggressively slamming slabs of meat on a sidewalk outside the restaurant, prompted an inspection from the San Francisco Health Department.

When asked about the leaked footage, the restaurant’s owner asserted that the sidewalk-assisted tenderizing of the meat was an isolated incident and that the employee in question has since been fired.

In the Health Departments last inspection of the restaurant, Lucky River scored an 88, or adequate, with improper food storage and poor ventilation cited as sanitation violations.

Yelp reviewers have expressed their displeasure with the restaurant’s standards, one reviewer writing, “”Yup. They boiled a caterpillar, Extra protein I guess.”

Other reviewers have spoken-up in defense of the restaurant, naming it’s cheap prices and authentic food as major selling points.

One reviewer wrote, “Excellent! They have an ancient Chinese secret way to tenderize their meats. I hear it is similar to when they use to smack it against a rock on the Yangsee River.”

To date, the restaurant remains open for business.
