SAN FRANCISCO—Samuel Youmtoub, 59, who was responsible for a fatal attack in the Central Distract in April 2018 has been arrested. Officials from the San Francisco Police Department confirmed Youmtoub’s arrest in a press release on Friday, December 14.

On April 15, officers responded to Joice Alley regarding a possible deceased person.  When they arrived at 4:57 a.m., officers located Quang Troung, 49, of San Francisco on the ground suffering from multiple head injuries.

Paramedics from the San Francisco Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted to help Troung, but he succumbed to injuries he sustained.

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide investigators carried out an investigation and were able to identify the suspect.  At 4:00 p.m. on November 30, investigators arrived at the San Francisco County Jail where Youmbtoub was being held on unrelated criminal charges. He was then charged with the homicide of Quang Troung.

Youmtoub was previously arrested for unprovoked attacks. On May 24 at 3:35 p.m., Youmbtoub violently kicked a sleeping homeless man in the face.  On May 29, at 3:05 p.m., Youmtoub grabbed a 28 year-old man’s head on a Muni  train and started slamming his head against the railing. In both of the incidents, surveillance video captures the attacks, which the SFPD used to identify the suspect.

Even though an arrest has been made, the SFPD is asking anyone with information on any of the attacks or the murder of Quang Troung to contact them at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
