SAN FRANCISCO—The city of San Francisco will be home to Super Bowl 50 (L) in 2016. The NFL indicated that Super Bowl 50 will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016.

According to a press release from the Mayor’s website, the bid committed has raised more than $30 million in pledges from companies including Apple, Boston Consulting Group, Dignity Health, Gap, Google, Intel, Yahoo!, Seagate and ValueAct Capital. The committee will continue to exceed efforts to raise funds for Super Bowl 50, where 25 percent of all funds raised will go to the philanthropic legacy projects to help children and families who are living in poverty in the Bay Area.

“The nation’s biggest sporting event is coming to the San Francisco Bay Area on February 7, 2016 and we’ll be ready.  Game day and all of the events that lead up to it will bring an enormous economic boost to the entire Bay Area Region and leave a lasting legacy.

We are committed to hosting the best, most innovative and most philanthropic Super Bowl in the history of the game. I thank the San Francisco 49ers, Santa Clara Mayor Matthews and San Jose Mayor Reed for their continued partnership in bringing a successful Super Bowl to the Bay Area,” said San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee in a statement on March 28.
