SAN MATEO──Three people were rescued from a cove after their boat capsized on Saturday, December 3, shortly after 12 p.m., a Cal Fire battalion chief stated.

The individuals were fishing off the rocks when their 16-foot boat lost control and flipped over. The sailors made it to the shore, but became trapped in a concave cove due to a high tide and a steep cliff behind them.

Firefighters noticed the capsized boat and located a trail that led to the cliff. They were able to rescue two sailors while the third was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, officials stated.

The sailors were treated by paramedics and released. Coast Guard officials are in the process of retrieving the ship. Details pertaining to the identities to the sailors have not yet been disclosed to the public.
