PARIS—The French Open has concluded its women’s finals and Serena Willaims came out on top defeating last year’s champion Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-4.

This is Serena’s 16 Grand Slam title in her career. The last time Serena won the French Open was 11 years ago. During the match, Serena would get so excited after scoring a point that she kneeled down on the ground and screamed to the air.

During an interview, after the game Williams said in French that she feels very excited and unbelievable that she can win the championship 11 years later after her first time winning it.

Before this match, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova had played 15 games, Williams won 13 of those games. Sharapova’s wins all came in 2004. The last game the rivals played was last month in Spain.
