LOS ANGELES—Singer and “The Voice” star CeeLo Green pleaded no contest in court on August 29 to furnishing ecstasy to a woman in 2012.  The singer, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, entered his plea to one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

The defendant was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Mark Young to three years of formal probation and has to complete 360 hours of community service. He also must attend 52 AA/NA meetings. Green is expected back in court on March 2, 2015 for a progress report in Department 52.

Green went to his Twitter account making controversial statements regarding rape on August 31 tweeting the following, “so if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?” He followed that tweet with, “if someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent.”

The firestorm from his comments led to TBS cancelling his reality show “The Good Life.” The singer then posted on his Facebook page on September 2 the following, “I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.”
