SAN FRANCISCO—Officials from the San Francisco Police Department arrested Aliitasi Alapati, 41, on Thursday April 12 in connection to a hit-and-run accident that left a woman hospitalized in critical condition. According to the SFPD, the incident occurred on March 28 when Alapati allegedly struck the victim on Bernal Heights Boulevard near Folsom Street at around 8:20 a.m.

Alapati’s dark-colored Jeep Liberty Sport was traveling east on Bernal Heights Boulevard and struck the victim as she was crossing the street. Officers arrived on scene to discover the adult female being treated by San Francisco Fire Department Medics for life threatening injuries at the scene, and she was immediately transported to the hospital.

A key piece of evidence provided to the police was a video recording of the incident. SFPD attained search warrants of residences located on the 200 block of Raymond Ave., the 300 block of Chenery St., and the 300 block of Font St.

On April 12 between the hours of 7:50 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. a team comprised of SFPD officers from Ingleside Station Investigations and Plain Clothes Unit, Gang Task Force Unit, Robbery Unit and Tactical Unit conducted searches on the above listed locations. The searches resulted in seizing the Hit & Run vehicle on the 200 block of Raymond Ave. and the arrest of the driver on the 300 block of Font St. Alapati was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on the following charges: Felony Hit & Run, Driving on the Sidewalk, Reckless Driving, and Concealing/Destroying Evidence.
