SAN FRANCISCO—Authorities from the San Francisco Police Department shot a suspect who threatens officers with a gun on November 7. The incident occurred approximately at 7:50 p.m. on the 900 block of Connecticut. Officers dressed in plainclothes were working the region to prevent violence.

Police spotted five males huddled in a group appearing up to no good. Two of the officers exited their vehicle to get a better scope on the individuals, when the suspects split into two groups. One officer followed four of the suspects, while the other officer followed the one suspect.

The sole suspect who was being followed by the officer produced a handgun. The officer drew his handgun demanding that the suspect drop his gun. He refused to comply with the officer’s orders and began walking towards the officer, which led to the officer firing his weapon at the suspect’s upper body. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities found narcotics in the suspect’s possession, as well as the loaded .38 caliber. The four other suspects were also detained by authorities, where police also found one of the suspects in possession of narcotics.

The officer involved in the shooting has been put on paid administrative leave as the department continues their investigation. SFPD Police Chief Greg Suhr held a town hall meeting on Monday, November 10 at 953 DeHaro Street at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the shooting the incident.
