RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL—The United States Men’s Basketball team dismantled Team China, 119-62 on Saturday. Kevin Durant was spectacular with 25 points as USA rolled to victory in their opening game of the Rio Summer Olympics.

The game was over before it really began, with the United States jumping out to a 30-10 lead after the first quarter. DeMarcus Cousins scored 17 points, while Paul George added 15 off the bench. The utter dominance was on display from tip-off; the stout U.S. defense forced 24 turnovers and a third straight gold medal seems inevitable for the Red, White and Blue.

They will face stiffer competition later in the Rio games from the likes of Lithuania and Spain, but China is no match for this group. In the second half, Kyrie Irving nailed three consecutive 3-pointers and DeMar DeRozan and DeAndre Jordan shook the backboards inside the Carioca Arena 1 with their thunderous dunks.

The leaders of Team USA are Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony. Durant can score in every possible way, he averaged 19.5 points per game in the 2012 London Olympics. Anthony tied David Robinson and LeBron James by playing in his 24th Olympic game. He will be the first three-time gold medalist on the men’s side if the United States takes home the gold.

The USA Basketball men’s and women’s teams are staying in a luxurious private yacht sponsored by Cisco. Special 7 feet beds have been installed for the players. A stark contrast to how other Olympians are experiencing their stay in Rio. Some athletes are quoted as saying that the conditions are sub-standard, and that the Zika virus is also an ever present threat.

The next game is Monday night, when the U.S. faces Venezuela on the NBC Sports Network.
