HOLLYWOOD—Celebrities flocked to the U.S. Open and runway fashion shows. Celebrities that attended the U.S. Open on September 9 included Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, and David Beckham who were all on hand to see Rafael Nadal hold up the trophy beating Novak Djokovic to win his second U.S. Open in NYC. Some of the Hollywood names that took in some tennis over the past week included Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin, Leonardo DiCaprio and his new love, Toni Garrin.

It was hard to believe that Nadal was the same man who was nursing a bad knee last year. He played brilliantly and deserved to win $3.6 million in prize money, including a $1 million bonus for results during the North American hard-court circuit. It was like watching a “Rocky,” movie, to see who wanted it most. There was tenacity in both of the players. This was their 37th match against each other.

Nadal defeated rival Djokovic for the 2010 title, and Djokovic won the rematch in 2011. It was their third head-to-head U.S. Open final encounter in the last four years. These are the same two players that made history for the longest Grand Slam final in history, almost a six-hour struggle that left both players sitting down for the ceremony after Djokovic’s victory at the 2012 Australian Open. In the end, the tennis match was filled with intensity, drama and was an emotional roller coaster ride to the end.

Other celebrities who attended other matches included stars like Anna Wintour, Kate Upton and Naomi Campbell who took a break from the stylish soirees of New York Fashion Week. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in full swing in New York City. The event kicked off September 5 and ends September 12. Some of the top names in the music industry that were spotted at Alexander Wang’s show was Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Socialites Paris and Nicky Hilton were reunited at an after party hosted by Lady Gaga. Paris and Nicky Hilton even posed with Courtney Love. Some of the designers for their spring 2014 collection are choosing a blast of tangerine and a splash of persimmon for their evening wear. It seems that orange is the new black. Christian Siriano’s color was a coral organza gown which was a bit demure, but really packed a punch. A big beauty trend for spring is matching orange lips.
