HOLLYWOOD—Easter holiday weekend has been known to be a busy time at the multiplex, but not for 2019. I think that chaos is being held for that epic movie that hits theaters next week. We’ll talk more about that flick in a bit. Moviegoers were in for a great scare this weekend, as the supernatural horror flick, “The Curse of Llorona” spooked audiences to the tune of $26.5 million. Not bad for an R-rated flick in its debut weekend.

Dropping to second place was the superhero movie “Shazam!” with $17.3 million. The film has now crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office where it has grossed over $120 million since its release on April 5. The religious flick “Breakthrough” starring “This is Us” star Chrissy Metz landed in third place with $11 million. Since its release on Wednesday, “Breakthrough” has grossed over $14 million at the domestic box-office.

“Captain Marvel slid into fourth place adding another $9.4 million to its total. After nearly two months in theaters, “Captain Marvel” has amounted over $400 million at the domestic box-office. Rounding out the top five is the comedy “Little” with $8.3 million. Prepare for explosive numbers this coming weekend as the highly anticipated “Avengers: End Game” descends on moviegoers.

Could this final chapter in the “Avengers” universe break box-office records? Some are predicting $300 million that seems like a massive number, to the tune that you won’t be able to catch a show that isn’t sold out the entire weekend.
