SAN FRANCISCO—According to a press release from the San Francisco Police Department, the SFPD along with the California Highway Patrol conducted a joint traffic enforcement operation on Wednesday, April 23. Officers from both agencies were on the lookout for traffic violators along Van Ness Avenue between Market and Geary between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Officers also focused on traffic enforcement in the area between Folsom and Essex Streets from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The goal was to conduct traffic enforcement along the areas to educate, correct driving behaviors to mitigate the deadly collisions in the San Francisco area.

In 2014, the city has already seen four of seven pedestrian traffic deaths occur near Van Ness Avenue.
