SAN FRANCISCO—After a season of injury and relegated expectations, the San Francisco 49ers are staking a claim as NFC contenders early. Kyle Shanahan’s stylish offense started upfront with the offensive line providing the offense wins upfront, and the defensive produce pressure all game against Cincinnati last week.
The 49ers backfield worked together as a three-headed running committee due to injury. The team outpaced the Bengals on the ground 259 to 25, led by the trio of Brieda, Morstet, and Jeff Wilson Jr.
Matt Brieda led carrying the ball for 121 yards for the day. The surprise of highlight plays from Raheem Mostert made the rounds of sports channels this week. The electric halfback scoring on 39-yard screen pass from Jimmy Garoppolo. The Harvard graduate quarterback continues his strong start through the air this season, as he tossed four touchdown passes last Sunday.
One of Garoppolo’s touchdown passes went to rookie receiver Debo Samuel for his first career touchdown. Third string back Jeff Wilson Jr. also added to the lead with two rushing touchdowns to seal the 41-17 final.

The San Francisco 49ers (2-0) have their home opener Sunday against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2) which marks the first start for former Oregon State QB Mason Rudolph. Tune in 1:25 p.m. Sunday on CBS.
