SAN FRANCISCO—Sam Kerfoot, 21,  a nursing student at University of San Francisco was arrested on Thursday, November 3 for possession of nearly 600 images of child pornography.

Kerfoot is originally from Carmichael, California. He was a former camp counselor at Camp Withers Music Camp, and a former leader at an overnight camp in Mission Oaks Recreation and Park District, according to information found on both his Facebook and Linkedin pages.

Police stated that in September they were notified of Kerfoot’s actions of uploading and storing child pornography through the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. According to police, officers began investigating Kerfoot’s activities with the help of USF officials.

He was arrested on campus with the assistance of USF’s Department of Public Safety. Kerfoot was presented with a search warrant in his dorm room where officials confiscated several devices.  He was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on charges of distribution, possession, the luring and seduction of a minor, and production of child pornography. Authorities found additional evidence of child pornography featuring toddlers under the age of 3.
