SAN FRANCISCO—A 33-year-old man was shot and killed in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood on Tuesday, January 20.

The attack was reported by the citywide GunSpotter system at approximately 8:50 p.m., when the unidentified man was approached by a male suspect who unloaded his firearm several times.

The man, who was inside a vehicle near the intersection of Sawyer Street and Sunnydale Avenue, suffered multiple bullet-wounds to his torso. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, rushing him to Visitacion to San Francisco General Hospital.

The victim was pronounced dead en route from Visitacion Valley to the hospital.

The suspect, whose description has yet to be released, fled on foot and is still at large. Multiple witnesses were present at the time of the attack. Law enforcement officials have conducted interviews with known witnesses, but encourage unknown witnesses to come forward by contacting the SFPD at (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
