SAN FRANCISCO—Voters throughout the city of San Francisco approved Proposition A on June 3, which is a $400 million Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond to finance seismic and reliability upgrades to neighborhood fire and police stations.

Proposition A will also assist the high-pressure Emergency Water Firefighting System and other critical City facilities.

SF Mayor Edwin M. Lee released the following statement on June 4 in response to the voter’s decision that read: “San Francisco voters are making smart investments in their City. I commend our City’s voters for putting San Francisco on a path towards greater resiliency.

The approval of Proposition A allows the City to continue our important investments – without having to raise property tax rates – to improve vital facilities and infrastructure that our police and fire depend on during and after an earthquake or major disaster.”
