OAKLAND—The Golden State Warriors steamrolled the Cleveland Cavaliers, 132-113 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, June 4 at Oracle Arena. Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr returned to the bench after missing action since April 19 with migraines, DUB Nation didn’t skip a beat, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry were brilliant in the victory.
Durant scored 33 points, and was an absolute beast on the defensive end, blocking 5 shots. Steph Curry recorded his first ever postseason triple-double, 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
The moment of the night occured midway in the third quarter, where LeBron James was guarding Curry on a switch, Curry danced around James with crossover dribbles before getting around him for an easy lay up. The internet went berzerk with that spectacular highlight.
The Warriors broke yet another NBA playoff record, a perfect 14-0 this postseason. Golden State is two wins away from capturing their second NBA title in three years.
LeBron James was relentless from the tip-off, attacking the basket with reckless abandon and pin point passing. Doing a majority of his damage in the paint; 29 points 14 assists and 11 rebounds. It was King James’ eighth triple double, tying Magic Johnson for most all-time in the NBA Finals.
James and Curry”s triple-double is the first time opposing players have both reached the feat in the postseason since 1970.
Kyrie Irving had a rough game. Only 19 points on 8 for 23 shooting, he needs to step up his game. If anyone truly believes Kyle Korver or Deron Williams can help the Cavs climb out of a 2-0 hole, both veterans will have to rise to the occasion as will the rest of the supporting cast.
The Cavaliers have lost their identity. Rather than relying on their strengths, such as controlling the tempo and rebounding. Last night, the defending champs attempted to become a clone of the Warriors. Jacking up one ill gotten 3 after another to no avail.
Well, the strategy isnt working. Everyone remembers the Cavs incredible comeback in 2016, battling back from a 3-1 defecit to win the NBA Title. It will take a monumental effort to overcome the odds, and it seems unlikely to be frank.
Any team which gives up 132 points, doesnt deserve to win a game, let alone a championship, regardless of the sport.
