WEST HAVEN, CT—Officials from the West Haven Police Department arrested a man after he reportedly bite off part of a woman’s tongue during a domestic dispute.

Around 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, February 4, authorities were called to a home on Kenneth Street where they discovered an unidentified female victim suffering from severe facial injuries. She was taken to nearby local hospital for treatment.

The suspect, West Haven native, Joseph Angle, 21, left the home before the police arrived on Saturday night. He was arrested Sunday after officials tracked him down.

He was charged with strangulation, unlawful restraint, breach of peace, and first-degree assault and is being held on a $150,000 bond. Angle was scheduled to face a judge on Monday.

Officials have not disclosed any additional details on the case.
