SAN FRANCISCO—Wet weather is expected to return to the San Francisco area on Wednesday, January 18. Storms are expected in the forecast for the rest of the week. The rain will span over three rounds and will last throughout the week. Rainfall will range from moderate to heavy.

Round one  is expected to bring anywhere between .5 to 1.5 inches of rainfall for urban spots and 2-4 inches for coastal ranges. The first round of rain will end on Thursday followed by a second round or moderate rainfall. Rainfall totals from the second system are expected to be between  1.5 to 3 inches. The third round of rain will bring the highest rainfall totals.

The prediction for coastal ranges is expected between 5 to 8 inches. In other isolated, low-lying coastal creeks the rainfall could go up to 10 inches, the Mercury News reported.

The rains will bring gusty winds and thunderstorms, as well. A wind advisory is in effect for San Francisco region. The weather could result in delays on the roads for motorists and power outages for residents.
