HOLLYWOOD—Big news in the comic book universe this week. Not only was the trailer to “The Amazing Spiderman 2” unleashed, but a big development in the “Man of Steel” sequel “Batman Vs. Superman” was unleashed as the role of Wonder Woman has been cast.

Gal Gadot, 28, will portray the role of the iconic female superhero. The actress, an Israeli model, may be best known by movie fans as Gisele from “Fast & Furious,” “Fast Five” and “Fast & Furious 6.”

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” said director Zack Snyder in a statement.

Gadot will join Henry Cavill (who returns as Superman) and Ben Affleck (who was announced as the new Batman/Bruce Wayne) for the epic battle expected to arrive in theaters summer 2015.
