HOLLYWOOD—The CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” sure knows how to stir the pot when it comes to drama. For weeks, audiences have known that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) would be returning to Genoa City, but no one could have expected the fireworks that her return from the dead would produce.

When it comes to weddings, nothing stuns the bride and groom to be than the face of someone they least expected. Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) were basking in the midst of saying their “I do’s” when Phyllis came bursting through the church chapel with vengeance riddled across her face. The look on Sharon’s face was priceless; would her nearly two-year long secret about the truth regarding Summer’s (Hunter King) paternity come to light? Not just yet.

Summer was full of ecstatic energy to know her prayer’s had finally been answered, as was Avery (Jessica Collins). Those not to happy with Phyllis’ return besides Nick and Sharon, included Jack (Peter Bergman) and Kelly (Cady McClain); Jack was confused and consumed with guilt over the news.

Kelly who had finally ridded Phyllis’ belongings from Jack’s life was forced to come face-to-face with the woman who can steal away all her happiness with the snap of her finger.  I must acknowledge the return of a beloved character and change the dynamics of not just people, but a town.

Sharon is literally crawling on nails, as she knows her secret could be revealed at any given moment by Phyllis, there is just one small problem; Sharon can’t remember the secret that Phyllis has on her. This is casting plenty of suspicion on the townsfolk including Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Victor (Eric Braeden). Will these two manipulative individuals team up to get the truth from Phyllis about the woman they both despise? It definitely appears so.

Things are heating up on the love front for Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and Devon (Bryton James). The two having been secretly seeing one another and keeping their ruse a secret from Neil (Kristoff St. John) who is adjusting to being blind.  The only person aware of the affair is Cane (Daniel Goddard) who has kept the news from his wife Lily (Christel Khalil) and Neil. This week proved to be a steamy one for Hilary and Devon as they snuck away on a romantic getaway, unfortunately they didn’t expect Neil and Cane to show up knocking at the door.

Other crazy drama circling its way in Genoa City is the complicated love triangle between Billy, Chelsea, Stitch and Victoria. I would argue it’s apparent that the mystery of who is the father of Victoria’s baby has been looming for months now, and likely fingers will be pointed at Stitch; Billy is too obvious of a choice for the writers to take.

But the love triangle is sure to get even more complicated when Adam Newman makes his explosive return to town. It will be no easy transition for Adam who will be forced to deal with the repercussions of his involvement in young Delia’s death.  If anything Billy will be out for blood and Adam should be afraid.

With so many revelations coming to light, “Y&R” is proving to be must-see leading up to November sweeps. “The Young and Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
