HOLLYWOOD—There were plenty of new releases at the box-office this weekend, but it was last week’s champ “Zootopia” that remained in the top spot. For the second consecutive weekend, “Zootopia” ruled supreme earning an impressive $50 million. Yep, it less than 10 days the movie has already earned over $140 million at the domestic box-office. Rising to second place was “10 Cloverfield Lane” with $25.2 million.

The mystery thriller produced by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams had moviegoers hitting theaters to find out what the hoopla was all about. While the flick is no direct sequel to “Cloverfield,” it does have strands of that movie in it.

Comic book superhero “Deadpool” still has pull in theaters, landing in third place with $10.8 million. Looks like the box-office success of this comic book anti-hero could spawn many more R-rated comic book flicks in the near future. Nabbing fourth place was “London Has Fallen” with $10.7 million. So in its second week the sequel dropped about 50 percent, not bad, but not good either, as it looks like the movie might just eek back what it cost to make.

Rounding out the top five was the Tina Fey dramedy “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” with $4.6 million. Other new releases “The Perfect Match” and “The Brothers Grimsby” failed to impress movie lovers. “The Perfect Match” only earned $4.2 million, but considering it opened in less than 1000 theaters is not a bad thing. While Sacha Baron Cohen learned the hard way that pushing the envelope too much is not a good thing because his latest flick only earned $3.2 million.

This Friday sees the release of the third installment in the “Divergent” franchise, “Allegiant” starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James. This flick might be able to dethrone “Zootopia,” but my gut instinct isn’t 100 percent certain on it.
