HOLLYWOOD—Well animation has proven to be a hit with moviegoers yet again. Why you ask? Well “Zootopia” did some major business at the box-office earning over $73.7 million during its debut weekend in theaters. That gave “Zootopia” the biggest debut for an animated flick for the month of March which was previously held by “Dr. Suess’ The Lorax.” Globally, the flick has already amassed over $235 million.

Landing in second place was “London Has Fallen” which earned $21.7 million. The sequel to the 2013 hit, “Olympus Has Fallen,” reunites Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Angela Bassett. This time around international terrorist unite to bring down the President of the United States.

“Deadpool” still pokes interest for moviegoers earning another $16.4 million to land in third place. After about a month in theaters, the comic book hero has earned an impressive $311.2 million at the domestic box-office. The Tina Fey dramedy “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” debuted in fourth place with a not so impressive $7.6 million.

My gut tells me the movie’s decision to not decide rather it wanted to be funny or dramatic may have halted movie lovers from investing their dollars. Rounding out the top five was the action-adventure “Gods of Egypt” with $5 million. This weekend sees the release of the romantic comedy “The Perfect Match,” “The Brothers Grimsby” and “10 Cloverfield Lane.”
