SAN FRANCISCO—A brand-new upcoming Netflix romantic-comedy movie “Voicemails for Isabelle” was spotted shooting scenes at the carousel at Pier 39 with lead stars Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson last week.
A FilmSF spokesperson confirmed that there was to be a two-day shoot at the following San Francisco locales: Golden Gate Park, Palace of Fine Arts and Union Square, but they did not give out the name of the project.
According to Deadline, it was set to start filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 10, 2025, to September 10, 2025.
The premise of “Voicemails for Isabelle” is about a woman named Jill, played by Deutch, who is living in San Francisco, but she keeps her late sister’s telephone number as a way to cope with her feelings. Her sister’s number is reassigned without her knowledge to Austin, a real estate agent, who is played by Robinson.
Along with Robinson and Deutch in the lead are the following actors: Nick Offerman, Lukas Gage, Harry Shaum, Junior, Ciara Bravo, Megan Danso, Toby Sandeman, Spencer Lord and Gil Bellows. It was written and being directed by Leah McKendrick.
An early version of the movie script can be found online and reviewed at ScriptShadow.
But it has been stalled, with McKendrick moving onto other projects, including M.F.A., Scrambled, the remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Earlier when the project came to light, it did not have Netflix attached to its name in 2019. Hailee Steinfeld was the lead and Sony had the movie rights based on the spec script by McKendrick, who is both a writer and an actor. Sharon Maguire was slated to direct it.
