SAN FRANCISCO—A police pursuit of a robbery suspect resulted in a pedestrian being struck and injured in the city’s South of Market District on June 2.

At approximately 10:32 p.m., officers of the San Francisco Police Department identified and began following the vehicle driven by the robbery suspect. Upon recognizing he had been detected, the suspect fled the officers and struck a pedestrian near the crossing of 8th and Market Streets.

The car, a blue four-door BMW, continued to speed away in the direction of the Bay Bridge and headed towards Oakland. Law enforcement lost the suspect near the I-580 interchange.

The pedestrian, whose identity has yet to be made public, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
