“Spider-Man: Far From Home” Wins Box-Office

"Spider-Man: Far From Home" was victorious at the box-office over the long Fourth of July holiday.

HOLLYWOOD—The Fourth of July holiday may have fallen near the end of the week, but that didn’t stop movie fans from hitting the multiplex. Why? The sequel, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” dominated the box-office with an impressive $185 million haul since its release on July 2. Not bad, not bad at all, and a bigger debut than its predecessor which earned $117 million during its opening weekend. On a global scale, the sequel is already close to crossing the $400 million mark.

Dropping to second place was “Toy Story 4” with $34.3 million. The animated sequel has amounted over $300 million at the domestic box-office since its release. The movie “Yesterday” landed in fourth place with $10.8 million. Falling to fourth place was the horror flick “Annabelle Comes Home” with $9.8 million. After about 2 weeks in theaters, the film has grossed over $50 million at the domestic box-office. Rounding out the top five was the live-action flick “Aladdin” with $7.6 million at the box-office. On a global scale the movie starring Will Smith has earned over $920 million.

Hitting theaters this weekend is the natural disaster movie “Crawl” and the comedy “Stuber.” Hmm, something tells me “Spider-Man: Far From Home” might have some strong legs at the box-office in the coming weeks. The only flick likely to dethrone “Spider-Man” from the top spot will be the live-action version of “The Lion King” which arrives on July 19.
