SAN FRANCISCO—On July 31, the San Francisco Police Department reported that a suspect has been arrested for a stabbing that transpired on Mission Street.
The SFPD reported on July 25, at approximately 4:09 p.m. officers responded to the 1100 block of Mission Street for a report of a stabbing. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen running on Mission Street.
Officers assigned to the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) immediately reviewed surveillance cameras and located the suspect, who was wearing a multicolored windbreaker, running eastbound on Mission Street and eventually onto Minna Street.
While monitoring surveillance footage, RTIC investigators observed the suspect crouch between two parked vehicles on Minna Street, where he changed his clothing and threw a black bag onto the roof of a nearby building before continuing on foot.
RTIC investigators immediately disseminated updated images of the suspect to sworn personnel and provided responding officers with the suspect’s direction of travel. Southern Station patrol officers quickly located the suspect on the 400 block of Minna Street. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.
With the help of SFPD’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, officers located the black bag that was thrown by the suspect onto the rooftop. A search of the bag resulted in the recovery of a bloody knife that is suspected to have been used in the assault.
RTIC investigators reviewed the surveillance footage and watched the suspect place something underneath a parked car after he changed clothes. An officer responded to the scene and located the distinct jacket and hat that the suspect was wearing during the stabbing.
The suspect is identified as Lamedh Porter, 36, of Pleasant Hill and was transported to the San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on charges including aggravated assault (254(a)(1) PC) and resisting arrest (148(a)(1) PC). The case is still under investigation.
