SAN FRANCISCO—Almost 10 people from a San Francisco gang was indicted for their criminal acts of three murders and many other felonies.
Nine members of the “Broke Niggas Thievin’” (BNT) street gang were issued with the indictment on February 25 for the killing of San Francisco resident Delvon Fields.
“The crimes charged in this indictment are symptoms of the disease that has taken hold of San Francisco and every other major city in the state- and that disease is gang violence,” Said District Attorney Kamala D. Harris in a March 1 press announcement. “We will approach the senseless violence gang members inflict on one another and on the community with the maximum force of the law and hold this case out as a reminder to our young people that gang life is a dead end.”
According to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office, Fields was murdered on July 2009 in front of his three children, girlfriend and mother in a drive-by shooting in San Francisco’s McKinnon and Third Street. Among the other gang suspects, it is alleged that London Shaw, a member of BNT, was the appointed killer. Other members that were reportedly in the vehicle include Cyril Hanna, Cecil Terrell and Missy Davis, who was charged with murder as an accomplice.
Two additional murders that were reported include the robbery and shooting of bus driver Gregory Chapman in May 2008, and the killing of Lloyd Randleston in October 2006.
Established in San Francisco’s Bayview District, members of BNT refer themselves as “Broke Niggas Thievin.’” They’re known for holding parts of Third Street as their “territory,” including surrounding streets West Newhall Street, Commer and Garlington Court.
Since the indictment on February 25, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) took the defendants into custody.
All of the nine BNT members were arraigned on Tuesday morning, March 2 in Department 22 of the San Francisco Superior Court.
