HOLLYWOOD—This week’s television Gold Standard goes to the mean girls of “The Bold & the Beautiful.” The week started out with Dr. Taylor Forrester, played by the beautiful Hunter Tylo, slipping up and telling Brooke Logan Forrester her longtime nemesis that Brooke and Ridge’s marriage was not valid. Taylor’s roommate and former mother-in-law Stephanie, played by the talented and beautiful Susan Flannery, had just told her that psycho sister Pam made a mistake on the official marriage certificate and that Brooke and Ridge’s marriage was invalid.
Pam of course went straight to her sibling Stephanie who is the ultimate mean girl in daytime television, fearing that her nephew Ridge would fire her for the mishap. But leave it to Stephanie to decide to go straight to Taylor with the news, forcing sister Pam to keep hush hush on the matter. Taylor who has long wanted her husband Ridge back almost broke her promise with Stephanie to keep the matter secret until the proper time comes when the mean girls Taylor and Stephanie will spring it on Ridge, hoping he’ll leave Brooke for his ex Taylor.
After finally getting Taylor calmed down, Stephanie shoved Ridge and Brooke out of the door in order to convince Taylor to stick with the plan. Taylor must know after three decades of dealing with Queen Stephanie Forrester that when she makes up her mind, there is no getting through to her.
Stephanie then went on her rampage of getting revenge on the Logan girls. “Those bitches in heat,” as she referred to them to Bill Spencer, Jr. now played by Don Diamont formerly Brad Carlton on “The Young & the Restless,” was not only impressed but anxious to help Stephanie get her story about the Logan girls Brooke and Donna out to the world. But Spencer ever the consummate businessman admitted that the magazine trade is a dying business and that the best way for Stephanie to get her word out would be a blog of sorts. A video webcam where the seasoned mean girl could tell everyone all the secrets of the Logan girls’ rein of terror in her life and at her ex husband’s company Forrester Creations.
Donna and Brooke were both shown what happens when La Forrester is out for your blood. They were utterly humiliated while Stephanie and Taylor celebrated seeing the truth about the Logan girls published to the world. But expect the two Logans to find their own way of evening the score as only Brooke and Donna know how to do.
Brad Bell’s decision to put Taylor and Stephanie back on the same side and to have them plotting against the Logan ladies was a brilliant twist. These two mean girls are unstoppable as a pair. Thelma and Louise should have only been as smart and sophisticated as La Forrester and Dr. Taylor Forrester. Look out viewers, there’s a major twist in the works and Bradley Bell is the man behind this vehicle called “B&B.”
Helena Cassadine’s mean too. She has been upsetting everyone in Port Charles since Constance Towers returned to “General Hospital” last month. But ABC’s queen of daytime Susan Lucci had some of her best work ever since she joined “All My Children” in the early seventies. Lucci and David Canary were both incredible actors this week on the show that surprised every fan with the death of...in case you haven’t seen it, I won’t divulge who died on the hit show on Friday. But Miss Lucci sure proved that she knows how to pull every emotional heart string fans have for Erica Kane after all these years.
Daytime television won’t be taking a hiatus, so expect more Gold Standards in the coming weeks and months.
