SAN FRANCISCO—On May 1, the San Francisco Police Department announced that armed suspects were arrested thanks to the help of the Real Time Investigation Center (RITC).

The SFPD reported that on March 27, at approximately 1:53 p.m., officers responded to a business on the 1200 block of South Van Ness Avenue regarding a subject making threats and brandishing a firearm at a victim. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who stated he was involved in a verbal altercation with two unknown subjects inside the grocery store.

After the altercation, the two subjects fled from the scene but returned shortly after and brandished a firearm while making threats towards the victim. The subjects left the area on a scooter.

Officers working in the RTIC quickly obtained photographs of the suspects and sent them out to patrol officers, who observed the suspects in the area of 8th and Market Streets and coordinated a plan to safely take the suspects into custody. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took the suspects into custody and recovered a firearm with an extended magazine from one of the suspects.

Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to place both juvenile male suspects under arrest.
