SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, June 5. before 3 p.m., Bay Area resident and Urban Alchemy community practitioner Kyle Franks was finishing his shift near UC Law San Francisco campus when a stray bullet from a BB or pellet gun grazed his neck.

At 3:21 p.m., officers from the San Francisco Police Department were dispatched to the scene of the shooting, which occurred at the intersection of Breen Place and McAllister Street. Around 3:30 p.m., paramedics arrived on the scene to treat Franks, who was conscious but had to hold his neck before he was taken away on a stretcher from Cotchett Law Center, where he was transferred to a hospital by ambulance.

Campus investigators looked into the matter, with the University of California-Law San Francisco sending out a campus-wide email to inform all students, faculty and staff that the weapon used in the shooting was either a BB gun or a pellet gun.

Franks’ injuries were not life-threatening. He received medical treatment and is recovering. Urban Alchemy praised Franks as an employee of its organization.
