SAN FRANCISCO—Six people were rescued by the United States Coast Guard after their canoe capsized in the San Francisco Bay.
The capsized canoe was reported by a man aboard a sailboat at approximately 7:00 p.m. on May 28.
About half of the canoe’s passengers were wearing life jackets at the time of their rescue near the South Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge.
After officers of the Golden Gate Coast Guard Station pulled the Mariners aboard a rescue boat, they were transported to the Marin County Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services where they were treated for mild hypothermia and are expected to make a full recovery.
