LIVERMORE—A driver was pronounced dead on Monday, July 22 after colliding with an Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) train.

The crash occurred after 7 a.m. at a railroad crossing on Junction and Ladd Avenue. The number 5 ACE train struck the car, leaving the single driver dead on site. No other injuries have been reported and no passengers on the train were harmed during the accident.

The victim has been identified as Min-Seok Bu, 20, of Pleasanton.

Authorities are still investigating how the crash transpired and where the victim’s vehicle was hit. Officials suspect the car was located in the railway after the railroad crossing arms had come down. The train most likely did not have enough time to stop.

The passengers of the train were transported to another commuter service about two hours later.

Livermore Police Department posted on their Facebook page at 9:25 a.m. on Monday the following statement:

“The roadway is now open… Please avoid the area of Junction Avenue at Old First Street. The Livermore Police Department is investigating a fatality collision involving a train and a vehicle. The single occupant of the vehicle is deceased and there are no other injuries. The area of Junction Avenue at Old First Street will be closed while the investigation continues. Please avoid the area. We will update when the road is open.”
