HOLLYWOOD—On Saturday, November 19, while performing in San Jose, rapper Kanye West, 39, shared with his audience that he did not vote during the 2016 presidential election, but if he had he would have voted for Donald Trump.

West, who has stated that he intends to run for president in 2020, did not receive a positive response from audience members. After speaking for just over 20 minutes, the audience booed him, and fans took to Twitter to express their negative feelings. Videos of West’s rant have gone viral on YouTube.

In an effort to tone down responses from the crowd, West shared that many of his close friends, including manager Scooter Braun, voted for Hillary Clinton and that their decisions to do so did not cause him to “love them any less.”

He stated that he admires the fact that supporters of both Trump and Clinton have “come together” at his concerts to support him, regardless of his desire to have voted for Trump. The rapper also took jabs at friends Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

“Beyonce, I was hurt. ‘Cause I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over ‘Hotline Bling,'” said West, discussing the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. “Now don’t go trying to diss Beyonce. She is great. Taylor Swift is great. We are all great people. We are all people. But sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forgetting who we are just to win. F*** winning. F*** looking cool. F*** being cool.”

On Monday, November 21, West cancelled his remaining dates for his Saint Pablo tour. TMZ reported that the rapper was taken to UCLA Medical Center to be treated for a psych evaluation. TMZ reported a welfare call was made on behalf of West on Monday as he was “acting erratically” at the home of his trainer Harley Pasternak.
