Americans Versus The Political Pollsters - Jul 17, 2010 - 12:25:06 PM
WDC.jpg
Perhaps there is hope for us after all in the world of politics. With the politicians in Washington now behaving more like the officials at the Vatican instead of elected officials who have to answer to their constituents every four to six years, it seems that Americans are actually waking up and have decided they want to throw all of the bums out of office. What a great idea.

10" Degrees Cooler - Jan 13, 2008 - 2:44:34 AM

Laurel Canyon, aptly named? or should it be Hemlock Hills.   Yup, there’s wild hemlock in them there hills.   I am of two minds here.   Excited that something as exotic as hemlock is here in the hills; at the same time freaked out about it.   I read Shakespeare.

Just a Matter of Time - Part 3 - May 27, 2007 - 11:03:18 PM
Air_Force_One.jpg
The ultimate "what if?" story.  Although conceived through a merging of current events with the dawn of our nation's government, it is not intended as a political statement.  Rather, it is simply one provocative example of the Law of Unintended Consequences.  This one is purely science fiction; however, the phenomenon itself is real.  It happens every day.  Part 3 of 3.

Just a Matter of Time - Part 2 - May 20, 2007 - 11:35:29 AM
GeorgeWashington-A.jpg
Dumbstruck, rendered nearly paralyzed by even the thought that this could be a genuine time warp, the president, standing among a large contingent of White House staff, realized as never before to be careful what you wish for, because a lifelong fantasy may have actually come true: "If only I could talk to the framers of the constitution, find out what their original intent was . . . ."
The now recognizable George Washington continued, "And may we ask who you are and from where you traveled?"

Take Me Out to the Ballgame - Mar 25, 2007 - 9:15:12 AM

Some things never change, and for our never-ending love affair with baseball, that's a good thing.  Like peanuts and Cracker Jack, a day at the ballpark is still a delicious treat.

When it Comes to Your Health, Buyer Beware - Mar 11, 2007 - 10:31:29 AM
Health-point-of-view-a.jpg
When reading of new drug breakthroughs, or of supposedly healthful foods, don't buy into what the media is feeding you.  Because all too often, their deceptions and omissions can be mighty hard to swallow.

The Catharsis of a Good Cry - Feb 18, 2007 - 9:29:13 AM
Catharsis.jpg
Those long ago memories of a safer, saner time in our lives can sometimes trigger an emotional upheaval as we come to grips with the reality that we can never go back.  But that realization can often turn out to be as comforting as it is upsetting.

Say What? - Feb 4, 2007 - 7:41:37 PM
vocabulary-a.jpg
Have our conversational skills hit an all-time low?  Do we need to put some overused expletives out to pasture, and bring back into vogue the more eye-popping volley of verbal sparring?
