SAN FRANCISCO—Many were hoping that by having the San Francisco Giants play their next 10 games at home it would revitalize the team, but that hasn’t been the case.   The team lost to the Houston Astros 6-3 on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.   Giants star Aaron Rowan attempted to save his team from defeat by scoring a home run off of Houston pitcher Brian Moeher in the 2nd inning.   Rowan also had two RBI’s in the game, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Astros who started the game off with a bang, scoring three runs in the first inning.

San Francisco retaliated by scoring three runs in the 2nd inning, with the help of center Bengie Molina and 1st baseman John Bowker, but the Giants fell flat on offense afterwards.   San Francisco pitcher Pat Misch gave a remarkable effort in the game by striking out six Houston players before leaving the game in the sixth inning.   He also had a single RBI in Wednesday’s game.   Both teams had a total of 11 hits in the game.   Houston scored an additional run in the 7th inning and two more runs in the 8th inning to seal their victory.   The Giants won only 3 of their 10 games at home.   They now stand at 17-28 in the National League.
