SAN FRANCISCO—A 13-year-old boy collapsed while waiting to board a San Francisco Muni bus. Authorities indicated the child suffered a heart attack.

The child was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, according to reports. The San Francisco Fire Department responded to the scene on Lombard and Powell Streets at approximately 6:20 p.m., according to Lt. Jonathon Baxter of the San Francisco Fire Department.

The child went into cardiac arrest and paramedics performed CPR until he was stabilized. He was taken to the California Pacific Medical Center for treatment, Baxter said.

Baxter confirmed that the Francisco Middle School student remained in serious condition sometime shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Paul Rose, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority, reported that surveillance cameras showed the 13-year-old waiting for the bus, not stepping off of the platform as previously suspected. He did not appear to make contact with the bus or anyone around him, Rose stated.
